I have been working on a sculture of Dylan Thomas in black clay so that I can use this in short film.
e

Although I occasionally throw
pots , usually for domestic ware  my interest is in combining ceramics with other artforms such as in the

 Japan Project

here there are black stoneware figures in front of a film backdrop and below smaller figures in a water tank with prawns
.

Figures in kiln

Taking photos for the film

A lot of time recently has been spent working on an installation for the Cultural Olympiad  which happened in the Bishops Palace, St Davids on the 7th of July. This was part of the Cultural Olympiad under Cauldrons & Furnaces and was a partnership between Cadw and the Arts Council of Wales.
It  was funded by the Legacy Trust UK
.

As part of Fishguard Arts Society, 3 artists, myself, Carole King and Glenn Ibbitsonhave provided a series of workshops with schools in Fishguard and Goodwick which has resulted in the production of clay figures. These figures echo the secular pilgrimage theme of the project.       'Ghost pilgrims' were placed in the undercroft area.
Glenn Ibbitson and myself used the figures to make a film which shows the detail of the figures with an animation effect of the figures on the move which was projected onto the walls. The figures are currently in St Davids Cathedral
